Avenues of Support

If there is an alleged breach in the code of conduct, members are encouraged to follow steps to address it. There are several different ways to do this and deciding on which course of action to follow may depend on the nature and severity of the issue involved. Paths of action include:

  • Member Protection Information Officers

MPIOs are an integral part of the APF who have undertaken APF-approved training, enabling them to listen to issues raised by members before triaging and referring them to the right place to find a resolution. The MPIO is responsible for providing information about a person's rights, responsibilities and options available for making a complaint or raising a concern, as well as support during this process.

MPIOs don’t handle complaints or investigate grievances, and they don’t mediate between members or stakeholders. They’re also separate from the relevant person(s) in authority regarding complaints, disputes and resolutions in the APF. MPIOs are an impartial party who are there to help guide members in the right direction.

  • APF CEO

Members can report a suspected breach in the code of conduct directly to the APF CEO via [email protected]. Emails are triaged and addressed according to the nature of the issue.

APF members, contractors, and stakeholders can use the third-party organisation STOPLINE to confidentially report any concerns or issue that may adversely impact the safety, wellbeing or rights of the members and the skydiving community. The report may be made anonymously; however, anonymity may prevent formal processes from being initiated. For the matter to be investigated, STOPLINE may request more information from the person making the report. If you wish to be anonymous, STOPLINE may need a way to contact you to clarify any information you have raised, so please create an account using the online form and STOPLINE can contact you confidentially.

  • Law Enforcement Agencies

There may be circumstances where it is appropriate for a member to report a matter directly to police or other relevant law enforcement, government, regulatory, or child protection authorities, particularly where illegal activity or safeguarding concerns are involved. Individuals may choose, or be advised, to make such reports on their own behalf. The CEO is the only person authorised to make a report on behalf of the APF.
