Chief Instructor – St Kilda/Yarra Valley

About you

You are a fully qualified and experienced Chief Instructor and subject matter expert with a passion for developing a group of Skydive Instructors.  You are a culture influencer contributing to a work environment that is fun and adventurous and safety is at the heart of all that you do. You hold an Australian Parachute Federation (APF) Senior Instructor rating, APF E Licence with Display, and are Sigma endorsed.  Regular travel across both sites in Victoria is required.

Duties + Responsibilities 

Leading a team of Skydive Instructors you will provide subject matter expertise for the continuous improvement of the Skydive Australia safety and quality systems for our Yarra Valley & St Kilda Skydive operations.  Summary of duties include:

  • Oversee the compliance of all parachuting operations for St Kilda and Yarra Valley operations 
  • Lead, develop and coach a dynamic team of Skydive Instructors across St Kilda and Yarra Valley, ensuring that all parachutists conduct themselves in accordance with the organisation’s Safety Management System and comply with all rules and regulations of the APF
  • Collaborate with the management team to identify, recruit, and develop future Skydive Instructors, Senior Instructors, and Drop Zone Safety Officers
  • Ensure all jump staff are licensed, skilled and educated in their roles and ensure that suitable training aids and equipment are provided
  • Ensure that operations are carried out in accordance with the CASA and APF regulations
  • Exercise direct supervision of each operation at least one third of operational time, calculated in any 90 days
  • Contribute to and implement the organisation's Training Operations Manual
  • Carry out audits in accordance with the audit schedule and conduct safety investigations in accordance with the Skydive Australia Safety Management System policies and procedures

Head of Flight Operations (HOFO)

About the role

Our Aviation team are on the lookout for a Head of Flight Operations (HOFO) for TherebyAir to join the wider team.
This position will be responsible for providing inspired leadership and oversight of all operations for TherebyAir.
Based out of Cairns Airport, operating predominately Monday to Friday.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager Aviation, this pivotal role will have the following responsibilities: 

  • Control all flight crew training and operational matters affecting the safety of the Part 135 flying operations 
  • Head of Training and Checking duties
  • Maintaining and supporting the operational logistics and providing a high level of leadership to staff, ensuring best workplace practices are always adhered to.
  • Planning, organising and conducting aircraft schedules, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation requirements;
  • Ensuring quality control is maintained with regard to CASA and WH&S requirements 
  • Ensuring Acts and Regulations are understood, maintained and adhered too
  • Foster a culture that inspires high levels of safety, performance, and employee satisfaction
  • Leading, coordinating, and supervising of Flight Crew team; measure, review and report the effectiveness and efficiency of flight operations activities and employees performance
  • Rostering and team assignments and ensuring compliance with FRMS; regularly monitoring flight crew   duty periods and reporting any FRMS breaches through the appropriate channels.
  • Facilitate Flight Crew site inductions and base specific training requirements 
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency of submissions of flight record documentation (DFR / Trend Monitoring / Timesheets etc) and review of Flight Crew timesheets and payroll reports.
  • Carry out pilot duties when required

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 + Commission

  • Perform and oversee daily operations within the Drop Zone
  • Coach students throughout the entire skydiving process
  • Perform tandem skydives
  • Ensure that all customer expectations are being met
  • Monitor and maintain all equipment, pack parachutes
  • Develop procedures for areas of operations
  • Liaise with management where required
  • Overseeing and ensuring optimal customer service for all customers and stakeholders
